BE SAFE in HAWAII
Cruise ship life
or death warnings!
I
took a woman to the islands in Dec. but we dressed in summer clothes and took
only a backpack. After we landed, walking off the plane and directly to a taxi
came next. Everyone else was mired in the luggage area and sweating midst
tropical humidity in heavy winter wear.
Lei
and I were checked into our hotel buying festive Hawaiian clothing within 15
minutes of landing. After changing into swimming gear we took Snork- eling gear
from my pack and we were off!
Bus
travel is so convenient that driving isn't even necessary. We were in the water
within a half-hour. Bus pass cost is $25.00 for 4 days unlimited destinations!
If you rent a car always
leave the glove box opened and valuables in the trunk. All Hawaiians know this
prevents break-ins. Hawaii is a paradise for thieves and muggers. Every
break-in or robbery nets a camera, expensive electronics, and often hundreds of
dollars.
We
went window-shopping at 7:30 in the morning when nobody else was about yet. A
scruffy man abruptly walked up. I put my hand into my beach coat's pocket and
barked, "I'll blow your head if you don't split NOW! Get out of here ass-
hole!" He left without protest at once. Early isolation always brings muggers
in Hawaii so don't be an early bird.
Beachwear
is almost always appropriate days. I make sure that I always have a side
pocket. It's for feigning that I have a gun. With strong obscenity it always
works. We filled the remainder of our day with adventure!
A
big black man walked up and asked us, "How are you two doing?"
“Fine
except that I have to carry a gun to keep thieves away." warned him off.
If you can't see that he was a mugger then I feel sorry for your future.
GOING ON A CRUISE?
The
FBI reports that Sexual and physical assaults on cruise ships were the leading
crimes reported to and investigated by the FBI on the high seas over the last
five years, at 45 percent and 22 percent respectively.
Let
me warn you, sexual crimes are usually unreported. Cruise lines hide the fact
the 3/4 crimes aboard their ships involve sexual assault. Don't allow any crewmember
into your cabin. They are generally common labor hired from any port and leave
the ship at will. Prosecution is extremely difficult as the cruise lines are
not in the least bit cooperative.
The
cruise industry doesn't want you to know about: Sexual Assaults, Shipboard
Disappearances, A Pattern of Cover-ups, Noroviruses, Unaccredited Doctors, Inadequate
Security and the Binding Ticket Contract
Career
criminals are often cruising to prey upon unwary guests. All have extra money
and have a tendency to think it's safe from crime. Welcome to the real world.
Cruise ships are no place to meet a spouse. Be careful and have a good time!
Crewmembers
are common labor from international ports worldwide. Public relations hushes
crime up and lack of support makes victims feel totally abused. Firing the
assailant and sending them home is the usual company punishment.
Those
that are not acutely aware of the dangers of travel are lulled into ignoring
personal security. This notice is not to dissuade travel but to make you
careful. I.E.: From the millions traveling on cruise ships 700,000 crimes
involve sexual assault of children.
In
an unrelated fact: The numbers of females and children sold into sexual slavery
is astronomical! Wake up people, travel ads lull you into a foolish sense of
security. They don't want you to know that there are thousands that never return
home! Belief
that you'll be safe is not good enough in the world.
Make
good security plans. Never allow yourself to be away from mixed gender crowds. Privacy
vs. safety? Don't be stupid. Privacy is a dangerous luxury that could cost your
life.
The
total beauty in the exploration of foreign lands can give one a glorious lift!
Accept small cautions and make your experiences ecstasy!
